Yosuke Hoshino

My name is Yosuke Hoshino. I am an evolutionary biologist currently working as a research scientist in the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) in Potsdam, Germany. I have dual expertise in molecular biology and organic geochemistry that I combine to holistically understand bio- and geo-aspects of the Earth system. Currently my main research interest is the reconstruction of ancient biospheres by combining phylogenomic analyses of lipid biosynthesis pathways and corresponding lipid biomarker analyses of the geological record . In addition, I seek to understand controls on the past and modern carbon cycles, as well as paleoenvironments by position-specific isotope analyses (carbon and hydrogen) of lipid molecules.
